MISSION STATEMENT

To improve the lives of dogs and dog owners by sharing clear, concise and well thought out information.

BACKGROUND

Welcome to Dog Training DIY!

My name is Isabel and I have been enjoying the company of dogs for as long as I can remember.  As a youngster I grew up with a Yorkshire Terrier and a Rottweiler. As a young child living with my parents, I really didn’t have ultimate responsibility for the feeding, care and training of our dogs. My most fond memories were of playing tag in the backyard; teaching them to push my dad over while he worked in the garden and playing hide and seek in the house.

As time passed I grew to realize my passion for dogs was a driving force in my life. When searching for our first home, one of the top priorities was to find a location with a large enough backyard to allow our future dogs to have the space they needed.  Fast forward over a decade, since owning my first dog, and I now have the pleasure of owning both a Doberman Pinscher and a Miniature Pinscher.

Having puppies in the home again was both extremely rewarding and quite a challenge. Being as these were the first puppies we had owned, we probably spoiled them more than we should have. More specifically we spent thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours in many aspects such as training, diet, safety and overall health.

Initially my friends and family made fun of how much time and effort I was spending with my two boys. However as time passed these same folks would often reach out to get my thoughts and opinions on specific items for their dogs as well.

One day during a conversation with my boyfriend, I was discussing the thought of volunteering at our local humane society. While he thought this was a good idea, he also suggested I give some thought to sharing the information I had collected to assist our four legged friends all over the world and not just locally. I knew in an instant it was the right thing to do and began preparation immediately.

By creating this site, my hope is to assist dog owners around the world in making their relationships with their dogs more fulfilling ones.

I hope you enjoy our site and find the information we have provided useful.

All the best!

Isabel
